Just throwing this out there. I needed to upgrade my IIe a while ago
for my user's group. So what did I do? I bought a used IIGS. The
ROM01 models can't be more than $100 these days (forgive me if
they are, I am recently returning "home" to my II) and you get lots
more slots because of the built-in function the IIGS gives you.
One other alternative (which I did for years) is to scrounge up a
Laser 128/EX, you can then switch between slot 7 internal (for the
drive port to use your external 3.5" drive) or slot 7 external
(to stick in any card you want) and slot 5 internal (for RAM5,
you could add 1 meg of chips on the motherboard) or slot 5 external
(to stick in another card provided you had the expansion box).
