I'll second that "8 foot drop" bit. I've dropped my disks all over the
place. Hell, they sometimes fall right off the desk and onto the floor.
No problems... just pick 'em up and pop it right back into the drive.
On the other hand, a few days ago we had the IIe-in-a-Mac card
demonstration and the fellow brought along his EZ drive. At one
point he ejected the disk and the metal cover on the cartridge
was still open while he was handling the cartridge. I don't know if
this is possible, but the platter almost fell out right onto the floor
of the meeting room!
"Holy shit!" I said to myself... "Glad I didn't buy an EZ drive!"
He says it happens to 1/2 of his 10 135mb cartridges. And that's another
negative: cartridge instead of disk. The disk is a zillion times easier
to maneuvre.
