Re: Boot block problems

After finding the aforementioned errors, I knew that I would have to
recopy parts of PRODOS and the boot blocks. I did so, copying tracks 0
and 1 off of the Copy ][+ disk and onto the other disk. Having been
successful in that, I then did a catalog of that disk, which showed:

PRODOS SYS 32 17-JUN-87 (or something)
UTIL.SYSTEM SYS ..........
BITCOPY.SYSTEM SYS ..........
PARM.DATA TXT ..........
PARM.KEY TXT ..........

instead of my normal

*PRODOS SYS
*BASIC.SYSTEM SYS
 GAMES DIR
 HIDRAW DIR
 MISC DIR
*STARTUP BAS
 HIDRAW.VARS VAR

I dont have a solution to your problem, but here are some observations:
Replace your Prodos 8(1987) by version 1.9 (1990 for unenhanced //e)
or later (for enhanced //e only).
This allows you to change BASIC.SYSTEM to BASIC and same for other
.SYSTEM files. Remember that prodos goes automatically into the first
.SYSTEM file it finds. If there are no .SYSTEM files, you get a menu
instead which allows you to experiment more and may help you pin down which
files does and doesnt work.
