A2 newbie w/?'s etc.

	Well, let me first sumarize. I bought my first Apple, a Performa 5200 last
year and am now a dedicated Apple fan. Early in May, my parents in-law were
looking for a used Apple computer and I mentioned it to a few people as
well as wondering about used IBM clones (so I could 'teach' myself LINUX)
and I got several responses. One person named MacKintosh! gave me his old
//e w/epson printer. Egads that thing is old, 13 years at least! Any ways,
the in-laws gto something else by then so I kept and have decided to teach
myself basic on it (after spending weeks getting software for it and
borrowing BASIC books. Another response was from my boss who had a IIGS,
well I thought about this for a while and, I don't know, the budding
computer geek in me decided to buy it from the clutches of a Windows user.
(altho' I think I convinced him not to even consider buying The '95),
	Well, I had some problems w/the free //e which I solved by gutting drive2
and tricking the thing into thinking it was drive1 and am now upto lesson 4
in AppleSoft BASIC Tutorial and was looking to the future-Pascal, which
I'll have to learn for my introductory Computers class this fall. I dl'ed
somethig called Apple PASCAL in 4 separate files but couldn't run them. Any
ideas...of course, that was before the IIGS which I got yesterday but, I'd
like to use the //e to learn PASCAL, ANY ideas?
	The IIGS is more complicated tha the //e so the questions are more
complicated; It came w/5.0 so I diligently dl'ed 6.0.1 and discoverd that
while 5.0 consisted of 2 disks; System and Tools, 6.0.1 consists of
several;Install, System, Tools1, Tools2, Fonts, Apple II Setup, and
SynthLAB. A bit overly complicated it seems for a Hard Driveless computer.
Any helpful thoughts before I get myself into too much more trouble, I
already screwed up the system disk by loading HFS file recognition which
disabled (?-don't recall, it was some what important) so I will have to
reload the image file from my PowerPC. BTW, for those wondering (I guess
this is important from reading the other Apple2 posts), my ROM is version 3
and my RAM is (geez yet another trip over to this thing-I NEED a BIGGER
computer desk!) 1407.. that's in kilobytes I'll assume. Also, it's running
at 2.8Mhz! Sheesh is that slow! I guess I'm just spoiled by my first Apple
(@75Mhz), which I paid dearly for when it came out. 
	In case you couldn't pick out the question in there, it was more or less
"Why is complicated (i.e. 6.0.1) better that simpler (5.0) when I can at
least use ALL my control panels w/5.0 but have to resort to System Tools
for 6.0.1 or use the alternate display mode (via ROM ?).
	And another thing, what's the going price for a used Hard Drive I can hook
up to this thing so I don't have to do the "Floppy Shuffle" every time I
want to use this thing? How about he going price for these RAMFast cards I
hear about? Those are what make the IIGS faster than 2.8Mhz right? 
	And finally, I got expicit instuctions from the Net on how to network the
IIGS to my Mac and since I know the Mac and the IIGS can both share a
printer, can the IIGS and my Mac share a printer? I so, does anyone want to
buy the ImagewriterII I got w/this?
	Oh, if you live in the Milwaukee, WI area that'd be great...I have no
problem w/exchanging Pizza and beer for Apple2 help.
