I've got one: stop spinning down your hard drive. It's never necessary,
and is actually a bad idea to spin old drives down because they might not
spin up again.
I leave my drive on 24 hours a day, only spinning down for thunderstorms
and hardware fiddling.
If you leave your drive spinning, it may well last for years yet.
