Newton's laws of copyrights: a copyright in effect tends to remain
in effect unless otherwise acted upon. Even if defunct, the programs
are still copyrighted, and will probably remain so for a darn long
time-- as the USA is a signatory to the Berne convention, copyrights
last author(s)'s life + 50 years.
You are still free to type in and use programs from your copies of
Nibble magazine, as that is part of the license Nibble grants you for
their programs. You are not free to pass them around at will.
