Apple's Media Control Panel drivers for the CD-ROM drive only work
with an original Apple CDSC, CDSC+ or CD-150, which use Apple's
proprietary audio command set. Later drives from Apple (CD-300,
CD-600) use the SCSI-2 standard audio command set, as do all current
third-party SCSI CD-ROM drives. You need a different Media Control
Toolset driver for them.

(Apple's CD Remote NDA is also limited to the three models listed above.)

MSCDEX is the "Microsoft CD Extensions" which allow a CD-ROM drive to
be accessed as a disk drive under MS-DOS or Windows (provided a device
driver has been installed).

It is only relevant for a PC.
