In less than 24 hours, at least four people have emailed me and convinced
me that my problem is just modem line noise which is unrelated to the new
SCSI card.  Which is sort of what I thought...but my prior experience with
the Apple HS-SCSI is "nil", so I wanted to know if it could have been
causing problems with the serial port.

So, I guess I need to get those idiots at Ameritech to clean up my phone
line...
