I have an old Canon bubble jet printer conneted to the GS and it
works great using a PD Epson LQ driver under GS/OS. The old Canon
printers all have automatic support for LQ emulation and print
at the same 360dpi the real Epson LQ. It also works under 8-bit
software using built-in fonts.
Canon has several new model color ink-jet printers: the BJC-210
and also BJC-4100. Both also have built in support for Epson LQ
series emulation, so they SHOULD work with the Epson LQ driver
for GS/OS. This would be great since the LQ driver also supports
color.
The BJC-210 and BJC-4100, unlike older models, use a bi-directional
parallel interface.
So will these printers work with a parallel card on a GS? How
about using the printer port with a serial-to-parallel converter?
These would make excellent color printers for the GS if they
worked!
