I'd go to Radio Shack and get a can of "Super Cool." (This is what
they called it years ago when I bought it at Olsen Electronics for
$2.69.) My can says that it came with a plastic tube, al la WD 40, to
better direct the output. I don't seem to have it anymore.
Their directons are to get the unit up to operating temp and then
spray the cool on components until it crashes.
In your case I think you want to run the unit until it crashes and
then see what component(s), when sprayed with cool cause it to become
good again.
