It is available at the following site:

ftp://apple2.caltech.edu/pub/apple2/NEW.FILES/puyopuyo.shk

I've not seen the original version, but the game aspect
of IIgs port is fun and addictive. It's rather like a cross between
Columns and DuelTris (the two player concept). It could use some minor
improvement though, I thought the actual play-screen and pieces
lacked detail, as if they were created in a rush using Deluxe Paint's
"short-cut" features. The opening graphic screens are fairly decent
though.

My biggest complaint is the background music score, it's
just digitized computer music played in a loop (flat sounding and
wastes alot of space). The author should have used the Soundsmith,
MegaTracker or MIDIsynth tool set, having sequencing the same theme
on the GS. That would have taken much less space and given rich
sounding stereo music (and more space would have been available
for different musical themes after levels, a la Columns GS). If
the digitization was from a GUS or Ensoniq SoundScape I could
understand, but it seems to be from a from a very basic sounding
game console. Certainly not beyond the GS's sequencing abilities.
