First: If the disk is a HD disk, try covering up the HD sensing hole.
Most IIgs's do not have 1.44Mb disk drives.
Second: Still can't read? Are you using the most recent version of the
Mac system software, the version with the ability to mount ProDOS and
MS-DOS disks? If not, find your copy of Apple File Exchange and use that
to copy the file.
Third: Getting the file into FileMaker--
I believe ClarisWorks can handle Appleworks files. I know ClarisWorks
does a beautiful job on AppleWorks word processor files; I'm not sure
about the other filetypes. So perhaps you can use ClarisWorks to convert
the file from AppleWorks to FileMaker. Failing that, you can get the IIgs
user to print the database file to a TEXT file, convert it as above, and
import it into FileMaker.
I think either (1) or (2) [or possibly a combination of both] will solve
your biggest problem. 'Fraid I can't help much with the data conversion.
Good luck!
