I've not used AutoArk, but I've had HardPressed installed on my system
almost since the day it was first released, and I have been very very
pleased with it. Its operation is quite fast, and it really is nearly
invisible. By that, I mean, when you access a program that has been
compressed by HardPressed, it adds only a second or two - at most - to
the time it takes to launch the program.
I have a 100 meg Vulcan Hard Drive, and before I got HardPressed, I
thought nearly every day about getting a larger hard drive. Since
installing HardPressed, my 100 meg drive has been more than sufficient.
HardPressed is the type of utility that I don't really think about that
often. I installed it, marked what I wanted compressed, and then after
that, never really gave it a second thought. After having had it
installed for a few years, I almost forget that it's there. In other
words, it is a seamless addition to GS/OS, and it is very fast.
Joe K says of HardPressed: "Four Stars. Check it out."
