The IIgs uses a 3.6V lithium battery rated around 1.5-2.0AH. The nice
thing about these batteries is that they are very good at supplying small
currents at rated Voltage for long periods. (i.e. the Voltage remains
close to 3.6V right up to the time the battery craters.)

Prices for 3.6V 1.9AH lithium batteries commonly run around $8-$10.
Nite Owl's Slide-On batteries are not all that much more expensive. The
major benefit is being able to just slide-on a new, high quality battery
that is guaranteed to fit-- no messing with soldering, insulation, etc..
You also get a nice illustrated instruction card showing how to iinstall
the battery in a IIgs PLUS a disposal tube for your old battery!
