There IS a web browser in the offing for the IIGS (in an earlier 
message here, there was a link and url to find more about it, but
you need GNO ME to run it.  

However, lack of a web browser does NOT mean you cannot get onto the WWW!
You can still browse the web using the resident lynx from any shell
account.  Just have her to go http://www.thelist.com where she can
get a list of internet service providers in her area code.  I think
if she uses the URL:  http://www.thelist.com/###.html (with ### being
her area code) she'll get a list.  Maybe someone who has access to 
the internet can get it for her.  You might also recommend that this
friend get an account on Genie (1-800-638-9636 is customer service),
since 1) it is darn near the only online service left with total 
support for the Apple II and 2) it has text access to the internet.
Compuserve, although it says that it will maintain a text interface for
the Apple II in the Apple II area, is going, apparently, proprietary, much
like AOL, and will not be accessible to II users.
