Sharing speakers between IIgs and CD-ROM?
This isn't quite an Apple II related question, however it
does involve my Apple IIgs and I thought perhaps others here could
offer some advice:
At present my IIgs system has a MDIdeas SuperSonic stereo
card, connected to it are a pair of Bose Roommate stereo speakers.
They of course are connected directly to the card (within the GS's
case) via a 1/8" phono plug. Now within a few weeks, I expect to
receive an external CD-ROM drive which can play audio CDs through
computer control. The CD has a pair of RCA (left/right) audio
outputs. My question is, what is the most simple way to connect
_both_ the CD-ROM and Apple IIgs to my speakers?
Is there a cable that would let me have them all connected
at the same time and not interfer would sound? (The GS is a bit
"hissy" even when the Ensoniq isn't doing anything). Or perhaps
should I consider a cable with a directional-switch or small
mixer box? I don't want to spend a small fortunate though, just
to share a pair of speakers. :) I suppose the first thing I should
do is purchase a sound cable that will bring the sound connector
outside of the IIgs's case (male-to-female 1/8" cable). Now where
do I go from there...?
