Well, in a certain sense, yes. the first 128k of RAM in the IIgs was
specifically set as "slow" RAM. Anything over this up to 4 megs would be
fast memory (ie. DMA). One interesting doo-dad: there was a special chip,
available from AE to make all of a GS-RAM + (all 6 megs) DMA compatible.
I think this and the newer 8 meg cards are the only examples of DMA
compatibility over 4 megs. Any chance of anyone knowing anything about any
availability of these chips?
