Regarding libraries for dialogs/UI. I've been evaluating a few of the more well known cross-platform UI libraries and I think GTK+ is probably the way to go. It's relatively simple and keeps a more consistent look across platforms. It supports skinning which could provide for some really cool designs for the UI. wxWidgets doesn't really support skinning though it's lightweight and uses the OS' native controls. Qt is meh. Also, GTK+ is C and will mix well with KEGS code methinks.
Too late, the virtual printer code I used was C++ based. Mixing C and C++ isn't that hard once one finds a good example of how to do it. Mixing something like a .NET language with C is... yuck, look at some C# programming examples that call Win32 API functions directly for a good example of that kludge. Besides if the user interface code (presentation layer) is properly separated from the emulator core, there shouldn't be too many problems using a C++ based GUI library.
