Re: Imagewriter II problem

My Apple users group just had a "workshop" on cleaning the print
head on the Imagewriter II. WD40 was used. The head was placed
face (pins) down in a small tray with about 1/8" of WD40 and
allowed to soak for about 10 minutes. Amazing the built up crud
that came off. The only caution is to be careful not to get any
solution on the circut board. (The printhead was missing and
printing incomplete characters before the cleaning. Worked like
a champ afterwards.) After soaking the printhead was place on a
paper towel for about another 10 minutes to drain off any excess.
The circut board was gently cleaned with a sponge tipped swab
and tape head cleaner(90% isopropyl) to remove any dust, and then
dried with a can of commercial compressed "air". The difference
was remarkable.
