IMHO as an electronic technician for some 30 odd years, I believe that
anyone who is paying attention can do it right. This is not to take
anything away from you, because you DID do it right.
However...Unshielded ribbon cable is an great RFI (radio-frequency
interference) producer and may be affecting other Televisions, Radio, 2-way
Transceivers and other computers. By law, you are responsible for this
interference, and if someone complains, the cable will probably have to go.
There may be a solution to the cable problem (if there is any) and that
woulddd be to add a ferrite donut between the ends and the center
connectors (2 would be required in your case). So be aware.
