Apple II CD-ROM??

A friend has an Apple II that he just obtained recently (don't ask me
for the particular model, he hasn't yet supplied me with that
information), and he was inquiring about the possibility of installing
a CD-ROM drive in this unit. I have been perusing this newsgroup, and
it appeared that this would be possible, but I need a little more
information, or a direction in which I can go to find that
information, as my expertise in in the PC field. Can anyone give me
some data about what would be entailed in installing a cd-rom drive in
this animal. In other words, what interface would I need, could it
possibly be an internal drive, or would it need to be an external,
what size of memory would I need to successfully utilize this drive in
this type of machine.
