No.  SCSI (usually) doesn't care about the physical order of devices.
The ordering of the SCSI IDs is the only important factor.

Physical order only becomes important when dealing with devices that
have internal termination: they must be last on the chain, or the
termination must be disabled.

However, there are some SCSI devices that don't seem to work too well
in conjunction with others, in a particular order.  For example, I
know of some SyQuest 44MB mechanisms that didn't work properly in
conjunction with another hard drive unless they were in a certain
order.
