Not at all. The physical positioning of devices along a =properly
set up= (key words there :) SCSI chain is immaterial as the devices
are segregated by ID only.
 
Your main/usual writable device(s) should have the highest ID's 
(remember you =can= use ID7 with the RamFast) Your removables
should come next, and your CD drives should come last (lowest ID)
 
This arrangement results in no scanning of slower devices if a faster
device has already responded, thereby making GS/OS (or P8) respond
faster.
 
Also remember that the RamFast follows the ANSI SCSI specs, and it does
scan tthe SCSI chain from the highest ID (7) down to the lowest ID (0)
which is unlike the other SCSI cards (or as SCSI has been butchered
on other platforms... sigh)
