Those Apple RGB monitors do that frequently.  I remember it was 
quite loud in my computer math lab back in high school (those 
were the days).

For fun, a friend of mine made an assembly language program 
(SQUEEK) that would create a nearly ultrasonic tone.  I tried it 
at home, and my kitten got very curious.  I tried it at school, 
and they were going nuts trying to figure out what was going on.
