Well, I can sell you what you'll need.
Serial Card $40.00 (SSC)
Serial Cable $ 5.00
Modem $20.00 (2400 baud)
Software $ 5.00 (shareware)
----------------------------------
Package Deal $60.00 (including shipping within the United States)

I have faster and slower modems as well.
For E-Mail speed is really only a big concern if you are paying by the
minute for the "local" connection.
If you are paying by the minute or need shorter down/upload times get the
fastest modem that your budget will allow (and your hardware will support).
