Re: System Saver IIgs: Need rec for quiet fan

If you find a good *quiet* fan for a System Saver IIgs, please share the
info with the rest of us who are stuck with those noisy things. Combined
with the fan in the Vulcan, it makes my GS quite loud. I tried unhooking
it once, but didn's like the resulting temperature of the computer
(though I don't have a monitor sitting on top of my SSII).

As for opening the case, I didn't have much trouble, except that the
locations of the case screws are not exactly obvious. There are *eight*
screws holding the thing together. Two are in the middle, deep-recessed
and obvious. Then, under the foam gasket running around the perimeter of
the unit, there are three screws on each side. All six of the hidden
screws are in the channels along the sides of the unit...none under the
front or back channels. I just poked a screwdriver through the foam to
get at the hidden screws.

The two most obvious screws hold the fan in place, and I don't believe you
need to take those out until you get the case apart. It's been a while
since I disassembled mine, but I do recall that it wasn't difficult.
