: 1. What is /r$ ?
: a) "slash r string"
: b) "slash r dollar sign"
: c) a subdirectory of the root directory
: d) Rich Salz
a. "slash r string."
: 2. Do people wonder why you keep using "Applesoft" as a synonym for
: BASIC?
Yes.
: 3. Do you despise assemblers, preferring instead to code your programs
: byte by byte in machine language with a debugger?
No, I like assemblers, particularly Merlin. But I despise compiled high-level
languages. I want to be able to write program fragments, test them, and
hot-patch them if they don't work.
: 4. Do you only use three registers when programming because "if A, X,
: and Y are good enough for the 6502, then by golly they're good enough
: for me"?
You mean some machines have more than A, X, and Y???!!! 8-)
: 5. Do you still have floppies that have write-protect holes on both
: sides, but are labeled "single sided"?
Bunches of 'em
: 6. Are you uncomfortable with the words "interrupt," "timer," or
: "multitasking"?
Uh, yeah.
: 7. Do you have "Beneath Apple DOS"?
I wish! Anybody know where I can find a copy?
: 8. Do you wonder why any Gentleman would need more than 64K?
No, I wonder why any gentleman would need more than 48k!
: 9. Are you distrustful of lowercase?
Only when programming.
: 10. Do you have "alias CATALOG ls" in you .login?
I didn't until I read this...but I do now 8-)
: 11. Do you despise anything that is not overtly user-hostile?
Hey, now...my Apple is a lot less user-hostile than MS-DOS...
: 12. Wonder why & doesn't do the same thing in UNIX?
Written by the uninitiated? "&" in Applesoft almost never does the same thing
twice! Must've been someone whose only experience with the & vector was
RENUMBER.
: 13. Think ^D in UNIX is a DOS command?
Hmmmmm...

: Apple II user since 1983
HAH! I first started on the Apple ][ in 1981, shortly after a bout with a
TRS-80 Model I/Level II/16k machine...
