Well, for starters, you might subscribe to COMPUTIST! It's been
covering the Apple II since at least 1983. In the early days it was
Hardcore Computist, a.k.a. the "pirate magazine", because it dared to list
deprotection parms. (Of course, it turns out that many old games and other
wares have survived only because owners were able to make backups.)
Currently, the magazine has about 1000 subscribers spread across the U.S.
and other countries.
The publisher and editor, Chuck Haight, is an ace hardware hacker who
has developed prototypes for major IIe enhancements and IIgs peripherals.
COMPUTIST publishes construction articles, game hints & mods, reviews,
disk deprotection info, hardware maintenance tips/ mods/ fixes, utility
and game programs, tips on using popular wares, ... .
Subscriptions (1year = 8 issues): $25/year in U.S.; $35/year in Canada or
Mexico; $54/yr in other countries ... via check or VISA/MC

You could also contribute articles and programs of your own. COMPUTIST
does not pay for editorial contributions. On the other hand, the odds of
seeing your stuff in print are good; plus, you get a 'publication credit'
and a free copy of the issue in which the piece appears. Perhaps most
important, you help make computing more interesting and fun for other
Apple II users. (And, Believe it, your contributions are needed!)
NOTE: Relatively brief editorial contributions can be sent to me via
e-mail. Programs, larger articles, and graphics should be sent on DOS or
ProDOS diskette. Articles can be TEXT or classic AWKS (2-5) files.
Programs should be sent as regular BASIC, BIN, etc. files. Graphics can be
in any format viewable via Platinum Paint, or as GIF or SuperPac files. No
printouts are needed. Be sure to include name and address.
Editorial contributions can be sent to the Eatonville, WA address (atten:
