It depends.  What language do you want to use to write XCMDs?
ORCA/Pascal and ORCA/C have special support for this, and include all
the necessary tools.

With assembly language, the main thing you need is a way of turning the
executable code into a resource.  I wrote and distributed a HyperCard
stack called "XCmdMaker" which lets you do this if you do not have
another resource creation utility.  The distributed version is 1.0,
which should be available from at least one of the FTP sites.

The current version is 1.2, but it is in a perpetually unfinished
state, so I haven't got around to distributing it.


I hope you have the HyperCard IIgs Script Language Guide (sold as a
separate manual from HyperCard, and not available any more).  It
contains documentation on writing XCMDs.
