hard drive orientation question

After moving recently, I found my new desk rather lacking space in which
to place my IIgs, so I was forced to stand my external 80meg quantum
prodrive on it's side, next to the GS case/monitor. I am concerned about
any possible long-term effects on the disk mech that this new upright
orientation could cause. The drive verifies and works just fine now,
but data corruption months or years down the line is definitely something 
I wish to avoid...
