Disk 7? It is a six disk set. Ah - perhaps you are counting the
"Apple II Setup" disk for AppleShare, which is for a Mac.

It is covered in detail in the System 6 User's Manual, and also in the
AppleShare manual (on the Mac).

As Randy said, you cannot boot a IIgs from the Mac's hard drive unless
the Mac is running AppleShare version 3.0, which is rather expensive
(but may be available at a lower price now that version 4.0 and later
are out). Note that 4.0 and later do NOT support booting an Apple II
over the network.

If you have a Mac running System 7 with "File Sharing" enabled, it is
possible to log onto the Mac from the IIgs and access the hard drive,
but you still have to boot from a local system disk, complete with the
necessary software to support the network connection.

This is the main problem, as the addition of this software to the
system disk requires more space than is available on an 800k disk. To
be able to fit it all, you'll have to remove Finder from the disk.

The System 6.0.1 Installer has an option in the Customize list for
modifying a system disk to allow local booting (Network: Local
Startup). You can then log onto the Mac (as a guest or registered
user) and access files on its hard drive.

To use this, first create a new system disk using "*System 6: On 800k
Disk", then install the "Network: Local Startup" option onto the disk.

Note that the network connection is not very fast - the LocalTalk
network runs at a similar speed to a 3.5" floppy drive, assuming there
is not much other traffic.
