I've got 'em just about a notch above 0, yes. :)

Yes, I'm running the signal into a Sherwood AV/Receiver (4050R) I picked
up from Crutchfield for a pretty good deal.  It came with 5 sattelite
speakers and one nice subwoofer (ported).  It outputs a hefty 60x3 and
20x2 in Dolby Pro-Logic mode.  Got it all for $399.

Whenever I use the Sound Blaster output, the bass response is very weak.
Using the headphone out port gives excellent sound quality and full bass
extension, but only mono.  Anyone have any ideas?   Could it be that
the card is damaged?  What programs could I use to test it?  In which
slot should it go?  Does the slot need to be set to "Your Card" (doubt
it).  Thanks for any additional help.
