Well if It's Done Right (TM), ie the page looks great graphically
and works well with Lynx (maybe add an option to "just download
this whole thing"), then anyone could get to it from any source
with any II.
Of course, there would also have to be a super-dooper deal on Second
Sight boards, modems, and BazWeb software (8-bit app so IIe and IIGS
users can graphically http) as a bundle. And a marketing push
in every conceivable II hangout to make sure you get the 4,000 people
you'd need to jump on board.
I was thinking a little while ago that the SS and an 8-bit WWW browser
could inject some life into the IIGS. I say 8-bit because there are
still a lot of people with the stock IIGS 1.25megs, 800k floppy that
probably just run AppleWorks. Those folks would be much less likely
to buy a Mac or PC for $1500-$2500 to get on WWW when they could just
invest $300 and do the same. A "IIGS Web Kit" turning the (low-end)
IIGS into a dedicated internet terminal. Just turn it on, the thing
boots, and *poof* Netscapiness without all the fat. It ain't like
the graphics are impossible with a SS, and the stock GS DOC can play
any sounds coming down the pike. ProDOS-8 means plenty of
RAM for whatever is needed.
I won't even charge you for my ingenoius idea, JB. :)
