SA key causeing a system reset when mouse is plugged in!?

Help....
I had my //e system working fine w/ an attached mouse.
Then I decided to update my appleworks w/ macroworks...in doing
so I used the command disable mouse.

well now I decide to go back to using my mouse...and well I can not find 
a way so as to have my //e recognize the mouse again. I tried using 
macroworks
enable mouse, but to no avail.

Infact one of the side effects was now, whenevr the mouse is plugged in
the SA key will kill everything and reset the whole system! Ack!

any ideas on how I can get my //e back to normal...being able to use the 
mouse.....w/ proterm :)
