Hardly. A null modem connection would usually go at up to 19200 bps,
possibly 57600 bps if you had an accelerator and appropriate software
on both machines. You'd also have to use comms software to transfer
files between the computers.
An AppleTalk (LocalTalk) connection runs at 230400 bps, though the
entire bandwidth isn't necessarily available. The big advantage is
that the network connection is transparent to the computer, and the
Mac hard drive appears to be a locally connected drive.
