Really stupid newbie questions, help please

I'm asking this questions since I just got a apple][ emulator for my pc,
and I like those old games ,I used to own a c64, but now I'm emulating it on
my pc. I want to do the same with the apple][ hoping that those old apple][
games are as good or better thaan those old c64 games, most modern pc-games
simply suck, they're very nice to look at but no fun to play.
But since I've never owned an apple][ I don't know how to use one,  
So here are some really stupid newbie questions:
-How do I access the drives, get a directory, load a file and run it
-any other handy basic commands for the apple ][,
 I got it to print "Hans is stupid"
 and loop back to 1o but that's about it.
