Apple File Transfer

	I was wondering if it is possible to tranfer binary files from another type of machine to the apple IIgs. I downloaded a bunch 
of files from the Apple ftp site that where in BSC compressed format.  There were two  uncompress utilities in what I guess was 
standard  uncompressed form(one was something like Binascii). I downloaded them onto a pc and then tranfered them over to 
prodos using a Mac LC with a IIe card.  While text files tranfered with no problem the binary files were written in the catalog with the 
correct name and size but had a file type of $00. When I viewed the files all they contained was a header and a bunch of zeros.  If I 
tried to copy them to another disk or to dos 3.3 the file size would only be about 1 or 2 blocks. Anyone have any suggestions?
