The GS is a 16-bit computer (w/a 24-bit address bus). The CPU is a
superset of the 6502, which _is_ an 8-bit CPU. So the GS can run both
GS-specific 16-bit software and 8-bit Apple //e software.
But I'm not sure what info you're after. Are you looking for technical
specs? Find a copy of "Technical Introduction to the Apple IIGS" by
Addison-Wesley Publishing. The Byte Works should have this book, as well
as books about ProDOS (8-bit OS) and GS/OS (16-bit OS). The Byte Works
phone # is (505) 898-8183.
