HD Problems...
My Q-Drive 85 that I've had for a couple of years has just stopped
working properly. I had moved it from slot 7 to slot 1 so I could use my
ROM 1 GSs built-in appletalk. I just moved it back to slot 7 today (so I
could print again) and it stopped working properly. I have checked the
slots control panel and it's set as slot 7 to "your card." I use an
Apple High Speed SCSI Card w/ DMA enabled and a 4 meg Q-RAM 2 card (DMA
compatible). What happens is that the hard drive will work for about the
first 15 seconds after it starts up, and after that any hard drive
functions don't register. If I turn it on and start up from it
immediately, it will get about 15 seconds into a GS/OS boot then register
error $0027 (I/O error). If I go then to a pr#7 I get SCSI BOOT ERROR.
If I do oa-ctrl-reset it moves past the slot 7 drive and goes to the
smart port chain. The computer seems to function perfectly except for
the fact that the hard drive only works for 15 seconds. My card is set
to the factory settings (SCSI ID 7, i think) and the drive is SCSI ID 6
(which I've tried changing). I don't know if the problem lies in the
drive or the card, as I can't really test either. Anybody got any
ideas? Please, if you can be of any help get ahold of me, via USENET or
EMail. Thank you.
