Actually, there was a period when you could buy a ][ or ][+ based on the same
hardware motherboard. I have a ][ Rev 7, which I believe is identical to a ][+
Rev 7, except for the ROMs. I later picked up an Applesoft card and swapped the
ROMs so that the basic machine was a ][+ and the Integer ROMs were on the card.

Call-A.P.P.L.E. (or was it Apple Orchard) came out with a DOS patch which would allow you to move the ROM card to slot 4 (I think) so you could have a 
Language Card and the ROM card in the machine at the same time. 

The above is subject to minor errors due to the age of the mass memory media
(protoplasm), and the fact that it hasn't been refreshed lately. :-)
