As long as you have the right cable and or adapter for the powerbook it
doesn't matter whether you connect another Mac or a GS, neither will harm
the powerbook (unless, of course, you forget to turn both machines off
before plugging things in).
For some Powerbooks, notably my PB160, an adapter is required. MacConnection
or MacUser had an ad a while back for one that was around $40. Be sure
to look for the one that allows the internal drive to be accessed.

I believe this type of connection is one way, however. You can either be
accessing the internal drive from the connected computer or you can be
accessing the external drive from the powerbook.
