Never subscribed to it. After Incider/A+ had started moving away
from the Apple II (their thrashing of AWGS was the watershed for me),
I avoided that magazine. The only time after that that I even bothered
to buy a copy was when my programs were reviewed by Joe Kohn.

II Alive sounded like garbage from the start, and when I heard that
the first issue was a giant ad for Quality, I decided it wasn't worth
it. Quality has made the decision to try and support the [clueless]
home and education markets, imho. I didn't need to pay for a magazine
aimed at people a long way down from me, and 3 months out of date from
the online services.

Yes, Quality probably survived for a while by aiming for some
lowest common denominator. But, the clueless are more likely to be
suckered into buying some "better" (aka different, with a Microsloth
label on more software) computer, and dump the A2. Hitting the A2
hardcore (like GS+ does) will not let you expand as much initially,
but you'll survive a lot longer.

I personally have never cared two bits about II Alive. Quality has
been a good mail-order house, but their mags have been useless. Like
A+, Incider, and other before them, they've found that trying to hold
on to a shrinking base at levels that they had a year ago can't be
done.
