After thinking about it, I'm not surprised you didn't know how to
ignore Topics. I didn't either...even after visiting GEnie for a
year. Even after reading, and misplacing the docs, I didn't figure it
out until I started using W.GOOSEY's GoosePilot and SAW the
formatting for ignoring a topic:
 
SET 3                At the > prompt, type the catagory containing
the
IGN 10 PER   topic you want to ignore. Once you're IN THAT category,
             you can ignore the topic(s) you choose.
 
[GoosePilot's macros add just enough features to ProTerm 3.1 to get
me where I want, do what I want to do, and cannot take overpowering
control since ESC shuts off the macros any time I want.]
