The brick has a fuse in it that burns out. I've never seen anything else
go wrong with the bricks. (I'm an Apple Certified Tech with 11 years
experience).

I started cutting the bricks open with a hacksaw, cutting just enough to
break the outer plastic, to access the fuse. Once I access it, I usually
put a fuse holder in the box and replace the fuse.

I had an Apple //c with all the goodies for about 5 years. I would leave
it on for weeks at a time with no problem. One thing to think about with
that LCD panel though, is that it will draw more power from the //c than
normal. The LCD screen is powered by the //c. The //c may get hot. I'd
say as a rule of thumb, if the room temp is above 72-75 degrees, start
thinking about turning it off. If it is above 80, definately turn it off.

Since the floppy drive will not be running all the time, that will help to
keep it cool.

Always leave the handle down to prop it up. It helps in ventalation. If
it gets really hot, you might just put a mini fan under it. Keep it dust
free as much as possible.

So, how important is all of this? Well, the propping it up and turning it
off if the room temp gets hot, yes, that is important.

Even from shut down to up and running the //c would be faster that a
phonebook :)
