I've seen people say 2.0.1 only needs a 65C02 but 2.0.3 needs enhanced ROMs.

It won't do much for you that 1.9 won't. It mainly handles remapping of
intelligent devices whose interfaces are in any slot while 1.9 and earlier
can only do so for devices in slot 5.
