Imagewriter to PC problems

Don't hate me, but I finally gave in to megabyte fever and abandoned my
faithful old Apple II and bought a 486DX-50.  But I can't get the
Imagewriter to work with it.  I know I deserve to be punished, but if
anybody can help, I would apprciate it greatly.  I'm pretty sure my comm
port is properly configured.  I can only see two possibilites.  One is
that the db9 to db25 converter I bought from Radio Shack is incorrectly
wired or something.  The other is the DIP switches on the Imagewriter.
I have tried various combinations of those (ignore 8th bit or not,
XON/XOFF vs DTR, but nothing works.  Any ideas?   Thanks.
