My monitor used to do that, too.  It would look like it shut off, except the
power light was still on and I give it a hard whack and it came back on.
When I say it used to, it doesn't now, because one day I hit it and it _didn't
come back on. :(  I've got the monitor in my closet, and my GS connected to a
tv.

If anyone knows what the problem is, and how to fix it, I'd gladly take the
advice and get my GS back to the monitor instead of this TV!!!
