LCD for IIc?

I was told by a somewhat unpredictable source that around the flourishing 
times of the IIc on the market, there was a separate LCD screen you could 
plug in to make it fully portable.

The reason I considered this to be possible is that Apple had early on 
experimented with LCD monitors and I think shown first (internally at 
Apple) on an Apple II (shortly after the first Macs were made).  Is this 
true?
