That is surprising.  If it says BXY, it should be a Binary II/ShrinkIt
archive.  I have heard that there is something strange about the BXY
files on ftp.support.apple.com - they have an extra header, I think.

I haven't tried extracting them myself to see what the problem is (no
need - I already had HC 1.1 and System 6.0.1).

If you have a utility that can do a hex/ASCII dump on the file, look
at the start of the file and see if you can spot the NuFX header (it
should begin with the letters "NuFile" in alternating low/high ASCII,
i.e. $4E $F5 $46 $E9 $6C $E5), and the Binary II header ($0A $47 $4C,
128 bytes before the start of the NuFX header).


The .HQX files definitely need a Mac - they are either DiskCopy images
in a self-extracting (Mac) archive, or compressed DiskDoubler images
(I've seen conflicting reports about this).
