Doesn't that code just tell you what the Display Control Panel's Columnssetting is set to? All that tells you is whether you start in 40 or 80column mode on reboot. It doesn't tell you what mode you are currentlyin. It is possible to have that set to 40 column, boot into ProDOS 8where a program launcher program switches into 80 column mode and thatprogram launcher then starts your program while leaving 80 column modeactive.
